US Rowing Mid-Atlantic Youth Championships is a two-day regatta that gives rowers the possibility to qualify for youth nationals. One day is time trials and semifinals, followed by the next day being finals A or B. Top 4 boats in Final A would gain the opportunity to race at nationals. Our rowers were determined to qualify as may boats possible for US Rowing Youth Nationals in Sarasota, FL. Our Men’s Youth 1X Nikolai again raced in final A coming in 4th. The women’s Youth 2x Enya Yaara again claimed 1 st in Final A by a huge margin in time solidifying their chance at nationals. The men’s U16 4x+ comprised of novice boys this being their first race at a qualifying event came in 6 th in Final A. Our women’s U17 1x Leila came in 1 st in Final A claiming an opportunity to race at youth nationals. While our 2 nd women’s U17 1x Eleanor (Ellie) came in 7 th in Final A this being her first race ever in a single and being one of the youngest in the race category. Our men’s U17 2x claimed 2 nd in Final A. While the women’s U17 4x claimed 2 nd as well in Final A. This being our first-year rowing in the para category for youth. Our mixed youth PR3 2x came in 1 st in Final A. In total we have 11 rowers going down to Florida to compete in Nationals. We have high hopes they will all row to the best of the abilities and possibly medal being national champions.
